Frequently Asked Questions
🪪 1. Licensing, Regulations & The Law
To rent from us, no. In fact, 95% of our customers do not have a motorcycle IDP when they rent. However, yes, you will need it if you get stopped at a police checkpoint. Phuket has periodic checkpoints checking for a valid international motorbike license, helmets, and drunk driving.
If you do not have an IDP in your possession, you will receive a police fine ranging from ฿500 to ฿1,000, depending on the officer. Note: Refusal to pay will result in the police confiscating the bike. If we have to retrieve the motorbike from the police station for you, a ฿3,000 service fee will apply.
A domestic license from any ASEAN country is legally accepted in Thailand. You do not need an IDP if your license is from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, or Vietnam. For all other countries, a domestic license is not legally recognized by local police checkpoints.
While officially recommended, a standard 3-year IDP in most western countries costs between ฿2,000 to ฿3,000. If you don't have one and happen to pay a single 500–1,000 Baht fine during your vacation, you actually come out ahead financially. As a bonus, we provide a free map of known police checkpoints and exclusive money-saving tips to all customers at pickup!
Wearing a helmet is strictly the law. Police issue a ฿2,000 fine for riding without one. We provide sanitized helmets for free, but please keep track of them, as there is a ฿300 fine for lost helmets.
🛵 2. Booking, Delivery & Bike Selection
If you rent for 5 days or more, we offer FREE delivery and pick-up directly to your hotel in Patong Beach. Most customers take an airport taxi straight to their hotel with their large luggage. Once you check in, our team will deliver your scooter, helmets, and phone holder right to your lobby—making it completely hassle-free.
While a Honda Click 125cc handles standard coastal roads well, Phuket has very steep hills and sharp mountain turns. If you are riding with a passenger or planning to climb up to the Big Buddha, Phromthep Cape, or the hills around Kamala, we highly recommend renting a 155cc or 300cc bike (like the Yamaha NMAX, Aerox, or Honda ADV) for better torque, safety, and brake reliability.
We practice absolute transparency. We recommend a quick 30-second inspection before you leave: test the front and rear brakes, verify that the headlights and indicators work, and take a quick video of the bike. Remember, at our station, you will never be charged for small cosmetic scratches or pre-existing wear and tear.
🅿️ 3. Parking & Driving Restrictions
You can park in designated motorbike parking zones. However, do NOT park next to curbs painted Red and White—these are strict tow-away zones. Also, pay close attention to street signs if parking overnight, as some streets restrict parking to alternating odd and even days.
Yes. Do NOT drive through any underpass (tunnel), as doing so carries a ฿2,000 police fine. Additionally, standard motorbikes are NOT allowed to leave Phuket Island (carrying a ฿5,000 fine). For touring motorcycles, you may leave the island, but there is a strict limit of 100km per day (excess kilometers are charged at ฿15 per km).
🛡️ 4. Insurance, Accidents & Breakdowns
Most standard travel insurance policies do NOT cover motorbike accidents unless you hold a full motorcycle license in your home country. Medical bills in Thailand can be incredibly expensive. To protect you, we are the only company in Patong offering an Optional Damage Insurance / Damage Waiver that includes medical coverage up to ฿35,000 at government hospitals and caps your accidental damage liability.
Without our optional insurance, you are liable for all damages to the motorbike while in your possession, regardless of fault, as well as all third-party claims. Please note that our optional damage insurance covers accidental damage and medical bills, but it does NOT include vehicle loss or theft. If the bike is stolen, the renter is responsible for the replacement cost. Always lock your bike.
Tire punctures (usually from a small nail) are the rider's responsibility. Do NOT continue driving on a flat tire, as this ruins the wheel rim. Please push the bike to a nearby local repair shop or call a mechanic. It usually costs only ฿150 to ฿200 to quickly patch a tire locally.
If you rent a keyless bike, ALWAYS turn off the ignition switch completely when parking. Leaving it on drains the battery. A dead battery due to customer error will incur a replacement/service charge between ฿1,000 to ฿2,000. Also, do NOT leave the key under the seat or loose in your pocket while driving so it doesn't fall out.
Absolutely not. You will NOT be charged for normal wear and tear or minor parking scratches. You are also never held responsible for any natural mechanical or electrical failures of the bike.
⏱️ 5. Returns, Fuel & Office Hours
We are open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Rentals are calculated on a strict 24-hour basis. If you need extra time on your final day, you can pay a late fee of ฿50 per hour.
Yes, but returning the bike outside of our regular working hours incurs a ฿300 service fee and MUST be arranged with us in advance. If you have an early tour, excursion, or flight on your return date, we highly advise returning the bike the day before, as traffic may prevent you from getting back to Patong in time before we close.
The bike MUST be returned in the same town where it was delivered (Patong). Returning it to a different town will result in an extra relocation fee ranging from ฿300 to ฿3,000.
Fuel is not included. Please return the bike with the same fuel level you received it. If you return it low, we charge ฿70 to ฿100 per bar (or ฿150 per quarter tank), though it is always cheaper to refuel at a gas station before bringing it back. Please note that we offer no refunds for early returns, so please plan your trip durations accordingly.
🛡️ 6. Travel Insurance & Hidden Realities
Most standard travel insurance policies do NOT cover motorbike accidents unless you hold a full motorcycle license in your home country AND an IDP. Medical bills in Thailand can be extremely high. To ensure you are protected, we are the only company in Patong offering an Optional Damage Insurance / Damage Waiver that includes medical coverage up to ฿35,000 at government hospitals and caps your accident damage liability to just your security deposit amount.
Your liability is strictly capped at the security deposit amount of your specific bike model (e.g., ฿3,000 for a 125cc Click, or ฿5,000 for a 155cc NMAX). Even if the total repair cost reaches ฿35,000 or ฿80,000, you only pay the fixed deductible amount. This ensures no hidden fees and total peace of mind.
First, ensure your safety and seek medical attention if needed (our insurance covers up to ฿35,000 at government hospitals). Second, do not negotiate or pay anyone on the spot. Contact our team immediately via WhatsApp, and we will guide you through the process, coordinate with the insurance provider, or arrange a replacement bike if necessary.
Our optional damage insurance covers accidental damage and medical expenses, but it does NOT include vehicle loss or theft. In the unfortunate event that the bike is stolen, the renter is fully responsible for the replacement cost of the vehicle. Always lock your bike and park in well-lit, secure areas.
🗺️ 7. Driving Conditions & Bike Selection Tips
While a Honda Click 125cc can handle standard coastal roads, Phuket has very steep hills and sharp mountain turns. If you are riding double (with a passenger) or planning to climb up to the Big Buddha, Phromthep Cape, or hills around Kamala, we highly recommend renting a 155cc or 300cc bike (like the Yamaha NMAX, Aerox, or Honda ADV) for better torque, safety, and brake reliability.
Phuket’s main beach roads are easy to navigate, but mountain passes (like the steep winding roads between Patong and Karon, or Kamala) require experienced riding. If you are a beginner, we recommend taking it slow, avoiding riding during heavy rain when roads become slippery, and practicing on flat coastal areas first.
Yes, absolutely! All our scooters and motorbikes come equipped with high-quality, secure mechanical phone holders at no extra cost, making it easy and safe to use Google Maps while exploring. We also provide sanitized helmets for both the rider and passenger.
For your peace of mind, we conduct a transparent check with you before departure. We recommend all customers do a quick 30-second inspection: test the front and rear brakes, verify that the headlights and indicators work, check the tire tread, and take a quick video of the bike. Remember, at our station, you will never be charged for small cosmetic scratches or pre-existing wear and tear.
🎒 8. Booking & Airport Logistics
If you rent for 5 days or more, we offer FREE delivery and pick-up directly to your hotel in Patong Beach. Most of our customers take a taxi from Phuket Airport straight to their hotel with their large luggage. Once you check in, our team will deliver your scooter, fully sanitized helmets, and a secure phone holder right to your lobby—making it completely hassle-free.
To make things completely hassle-free, we accept the small cash deposit in Thai Baht (THB) or equivalent major foreign currencies like USD, EUR, AUD, or GBP. Your exact cash deposit will be safely kept and returned to you in full immediately upon returning the bike with no damages.
No worries at all! We understand travel plans change. Just message our team via WhatsApp as soon as you know your new arrival time. We are highly flexible and will easily reschedule your free hotel delivery to match your updated check-in time.
🗺️ The Ultimate Phuket Scooter Rental Survival Guide
Renting a scooter or motorbike is the single best way to explore Phuket Island, from the vibrant streets of Patong Beach to the breathtaking views at the Big Buddha and Kata Viewpoint. However, navigating the local roads and rental rules can be tricky for travelers. To ensure a safe, stress-free, and affordable holiday, keep these essential local tips in mind:
1. Avoid the Infamous Passport & Scratch Scams
The biggest mistake travelers make is leaving their physical passport as a deposit. If a rental shop loses your passport or uses it to leverage fake damage fees, your vacation is ruined.
2. Master the Mountain Passes & Road Rules
Phuket is famous for its gorgeous coastline, but coastal roads like the mountain passes between Patong and Karon or the hills up to Kamala feature incredibly steep slopes and sharp hairpin turns.
3. Navigate Police Checkpoints Safely
Phuket traffic police run periodic checkpoints across the island, especially near major entry points to Patong. They strictly check foreign riders for two main things: helmets and licensing.
